Tell us a little bit about yourself (family, job, hobbies, interests, etc.).
I am married to my best friend and travel buddy, Emily. We enjoy traveling the world and sharing the love of Jesus Christ with all those that we come in contact with. I love educating others on topics of health and wellness and how to get the most out of their body all while creating an impactful relationship.
Which class time do you usually attend?
When did you start doing CrossFit?
The summer of 2013 when I got tired of just doing Bicep Curls and I had no friends after moving states.
How did you hear about CrossFit and what was your first workout?
I grew up being friends and sports teammates with Alec Smith so I would hear about Ben's "crazy" workouts all the time. As well as my best friend's dad is a Navy SEAL so they would always ask me to join them but I always told them !t was bad for them. When I did start, my first WOD was Jackie.
What were you doing before CrossFit?
How has your approach to CrossFit changed since first starting?
I used to believe that there was no method to the programming, that it was just all about trying to kill yourself day in and day out. After many bouts of mild overtraining and injuries, I finally learned.
Favorite WOD or movement / Least favorite?
Squat Snatch or anything highly technical. My least favorite is probably a burpee box jump.
What types of changes have you seen (mentally, physically, and/or lifestyle) since starting CrossFit?
I am so much more mentally strong now, I make it a point to push myself mentally now more than anything. It has also given me a passion and a career!
What helps you get the most out of your CrossFit Workouts? What motivates/inspires you?
I want to live a life that inspires others, I want to show them that they are capable of so much more than they can imagine. One thought of that and it gets me going again.
What would you say to someone starting CrossFit for the first time?
Enjoy the process of becoming a more well-rounded human. You WILL encounter things that frustrate you and that you don't think is possible, but with practice and determination, almost anything can be done.
Something you might not know about me: we love details!
I AM A HUGE NERD!! My personal training sessions are riddled with talks of Marvel, DC, Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. I also have a very unique gift of knowing the words to almost any song. Being at the gym all day and subconsciously listening to the music, my brain literally absorbs it!
