Tell us a little bit about yourself (family, job, hobbies, interests, etc.).

I am an Accounts Payable Specialist at a company that sells lawn and garden supplies nationwide. I have a 19-year-old daughter that just recently started doing CrossFit® with me. My interests vary but my friends and family would all agree that I am most passionate about The Packers, the UFC, MARVEL, and of course...CrossFit!!!

Which class time do you usually attend?

I generally go on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings, and I also attend the Saturday morning class.

When did you start doing CrossFit®?

I started doing CrossFit® January 3rd, 2018.

How did you hear about CrossFit® and what was your first workout?

I heard of CrossFit® from some friends as well as driving by it every morning on my way to work. My first class just happened to be FRAN!!! Which almost killed me! At that time I was 333lbs, and beyond out of shape.

What were you doing before CrossFit®?

Before CrossFit®, I lived a very unhealthy lifestyle. I had kind of self-destructed. After suffering a lot of losses in my life I had become a hermit, food was my outlet, I was lost.

How has your approach to CrossFit® changed since first starting?

My approach has changed drastically. When I first started I was 333lbs. Every single movement was hard. I had to scale everything. My goal during each WOD was to simply survive. Now, I am nearly 80lbs lighter, I have gained strength, mobility, flexibility, knowledge, and confidence! Every day my goal now is to do something better, do something faster, move something heavier...I am only happy when I am pushing myself to be better!

Favorite WOD or movement / Least favorite?

My favorite WOD would be hard to put my finger on. I truly do enjoy the way each and every WOD challenges me in a different way. But I will say, my least favorites would have to be...running, just because I have yet to find my rhythm. And my absolute Kryptonite for some reason is overhead squats!

What types of changes have you seen (mentally, physically, and/or lifestyle) since starting CrossFit®?

Since starting CrossFit® so many aspects of my life have changed. I started eating so much healthier, my confidence has skyrocketed, and I have actually become social again. I am mentally stronger than I've been in many years. And the physical changes have been huge. I have lost nearly 80lbs, and in the process, I have become so much stronger. And I have gone from wearing size 46 pants and 4xl shirts, to wearing a size 38 pants and 2x shirts.


What inspires you?

What helps me get the most out of my CrossFit® workouts is the same thing that keeps me motivated and inspires me to keep pushing forward and becoming a better version of my self-everyday. It's my CrossFit® family and the CrossFit® community as a whole. I have never met a more loving, supportive, and accepting group of people in my life. The encouragement, and accountability I have received in the past 7 and a half months has truly changed my life!

What would you say to someone starting CrossFit® for the first time?

To someone just starting CrossFit®, I would say congratulations! You may have just made one of the best decisions of your life. Be patient, stay focused, work hard, and I promise you will succeed.

Something you might not know about me: 

One of the greatest things CrossFit® has done for me is that it has helped me become so much healthier than I was recently taken off two blood-pressure medications, as well as my pre-diabetes medication. It truly has changed every aspect of my life.
